Gold Spark Studio

Advocacy, Creativity, Change,
Turning Loss Into Purpose

A Deeply Personal Mission

Welcome to Gold Spark Studio, a place for ideas, inspiration, and purposeful action. It’s a heartfelt tribute to my sons, Graham and Spencer, whose initials are embedded in its name. “Gold” represents the yield from transforming pain into purpose—an alchemical process of turning grief into something profoundly meaningful. “Spark” represents the passion and drive that ignite change and fuel hope.

My journey has been shaped by profound personal loss. I lost Graham at 17 and Spencer at 24, both casualties of the addiction crisis. My mission is to honor those we’ve lost by helping others like my sons, who guide my work as I work tirelessly to ensure their deaths were not in vain.

I am a mission-driven advocate, strategist, and communicator with a Master’s in Policy from Columbia University and decades of experience in both private and nonprofit sectors. I’ve channeled my grief into leadership—to drive strategy, policy, and stakeholder engagement. I’ve served in key roles – Strategy & Communications Director for Herren Project and Co-chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee for Boulder County’s Substance Use Advisory Group. I aim to drive innovative solutions and meaningful change.

This space is a hub for all my work—an intersection of ideas, strategies, and creativity. Here, you’ll find information on SPENCER’s Law (Safe, Person-centered, Evidentiary, Needs-based Care for Effective Recovery), resources for advocacy, the vision of Shepherd’s Hamlet, and glimpses into my creative work. Together, let’s imagine a brighter future—and work to make it happen.
